  New and Existing Systems
    CS/sC designs and develops new systems to meet customer requirements and maintains existing systems. CS/sC assists with the selection, configuration, and integration of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) products and solutions. CS/sC ensures that systems are documented and guarantees delivery of vigorously tested baseline packages.
Requirements Management Group
    Requirements gathering is the first part of the IT process in planning and analysis for CS/sC efforts, complementing the Development and Product Assurance Groups. Requirements Management represents the customer's business and provides CS/sC with the customer's perspective. The Requirements Management Group has the responsibility for the following disciplines:

  • Engineering of New and Existing Systems
    CS/sC has experienced senior systems analysts that can design and develop new systems to customer's requirements or maintain existing systems, and assist with the selection, configuration, and integration of Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products and solutions. Working with the Product Assurance Group, the analysts ensure that systems are documented and guarantee delivery of fully tested baseline packages.


  • Analysis, Planning, and Studies
    CS/sC performs related analysis, planning, and studies consisting of project planning, requirements definition and requirements management. Analysis includes cost/benefit analysis, feasibility studies, business case and concept studies, Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software evaluations, statistical analysis, systems analysis/design, and development of data flow diagrams.


  • Project Tracking
    Each project at the CS/sC performs related analysis, planning, and studies consisting of project planning, requirements definition and requirements management. Analysis includes cost/benefit analysis, feasibility studies, business case and concept studies, Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) software evaluations, statistical analysis, systems analysis/design, and development of data flow diagrams.
Development/Maintenance Group
    Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance part of the software life cycle. The Development Group provides the design and development expertise from requirement analysis and project planning through coding to testing and evaluation. They implement IT systems and applications as well as provide maintenance and support to applications. They also provide direct user support to customers, through the Customer Resource Center and are supported by the Requirements Management Group. CS/sC Development/Maintenance Group has responsibility for the following disciplines:

  • Web Development and Maintenance
    CS/sC houses all the necessary skill sets for professional web site development. This includes the management of both the content and presentation.

    Our Web group designed, developed and maintained for the Department of Education. This site includes top level information for visitors and secure access for the institutions needing to monitor their financial status. It also provides a secure means for monitoring and updating the Pell Grant system by the Department of Education and information used by the Pell Grant Customer Service to answer inquiries received from schools. The Web gateway provides an interface to Web server applications and the mainframe DB2 database.
Product Assurance Group
    This is an overreaching activity that ensures software products meet the industry's best standards of integrity and conform to software development processes established by CS/sC. Product Assurance incorporates the following disciplines:

  • Quality Assurance and Testing
    CS/sC is staffed with quality assurance, testing and evaluation experts whose involvement is integrated throughout the systems development processes.
    • Quality Assurance (QA)
    • Configuration Management (CM)
    • Documentation Management (DM)
    • Testing and Evaluation (T & E)
    • Independent Verification and Validation (IV & V)

  • Independent Verification and Validation
    CS/sC is equipped with Independent Verification and Validation personnel who are responsible for maintaining an independent view of system quality.
Telecommunications/Network Group

    CS/sC is staffed with a Telecommunications Engineer with both military and civilian experience in telecommunication engineering, design and implementation of large systems. Also on staff are Microsoft Certified Systems Engineers, who can provide:

    • Network Engineering of LANS and INTRANETS
    • Management of LANS, INTRANETS
    • Configuration and Management of Domain Servers
    • Configuration and Management of Application Servers
    • Configuration and Management of VPN and Terminal Servers
    • Configuration and Management of routers and firewalls
    • Disaster Recovery Planning, Testing and Implementation

    The Telecommunications/Network Group maintains detailed network diagrams and disaster recovery plans for their responsible systems.
Training

    Training available through the CS/sC includes application-specific training, IT related tools training, and systems development and maintenance methodology. Training personnel are pulled from the respective groups as needed.
